Outlook - Getting Started

What you will learn:
By the end of class, attendees will gain experience and knowledge surrounding the basics of Outlook . This course will cover getting started with email at KU as well as email and calendar basics within Outlook . Attendees will be given the opportunity to work within Outlook with instructor assistance so that real-world applications can be understood and practiced.

** This course is intended for those who use the full Microsoft Outlook Client and will not cover materials on the Outlook Web App.


Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, attendees will be able to:

  • Manage and organize email within Outlook
  • Determine when to add contacts and when to use the global address list
  • Manage and create contacts and contact groups
  • Differentiate between contact groups and KU group lists (distribution lists, DL’s)
  • Manage and create in-person and online meetings meetings and appointments using the scheduling assistant
  • Differentiate between delegated calendars, shared calendars, and calendar permissions
  • Search more efficiently within Outlook
  • Create out-of-office messages

Prerequisites

What you should already know:
Attendees should have an understanding of the basic content of an email message and meeting request and be able to perform basic computing skills such as using a mouse, formatting text, and saving and organizing files.

What you will need:
For this course, attendees will need an active KU Online ID. No additional hardware, software, or account permissions are needed.
