Microsoft Teams - Deep Dive

Overview:

This workshop is an overview of a variety of features that go beyond the Teams Essentials workshop.

For the foreseeable future, all workshops will be presented via Zoom. All those registered for the workshop will receive an email with the Zoom link the morning of or day before the session. If there is still space in a closed session, contact us at training@ku.edu to request the Zoom link.

This session will be a deeper dive into Microsoft Teams features. We will cover the following:
  • Review of the Setting options and differences between web app and desktop app Settings
  • Search and command field options to search for keywords and topics, chat, and review newly released features
  • More options in the Posts area, which includes immersive reader, bookmarking messages, sharing to Outlook, etc.
  • SharePoint integration
  • How to create quick polls for your team via Microsoft Forms
  • Deeper dive into Meetings features, such as spotlight, managing permissions, etc.
  • Create tags as a quick way to @mention a subset of people on your team

Prerequisites

We highly recommend that you attend any prerequisite workshops listed below since familiarity with the skills and concepts taught in them is essential to benefit fully from subsequent workshops.

However, if you have independently learned the skills and concepts of the required workshop(s), your "equivalent skills" will be accepted as a substitute for attending the prerequisite workshop(s).

To help you determine your skill level, click workshop titles below (if any) for descriptions which outline the topics taught in each workshop and that are assumed in later sessions. You are expected to know the commands and concepts listed within the descriptions for the prerequisite workshop. In most cases, you can also refer to workshop handouts and other helpful materials from the workshop description page.

In addition to any specific prerequisites listed, you should have, as a minimum, basic computing skills.

Attendees should have a basic understanding of how to:

  • Operate a computer, mouse, and keyboard
  • Open a web browser and navigate to a website
  • Attendees should have taken the Microsoft Teams Essentials course or have experience working in Teams
