Blackboard: Discussions

Overview:

Online discussions provide some unique benefits. Because students can take time to ponder before posting ideas, you may see more thoughtful conversations play out.

You can observe as students demonstrate their grasp of the material and correct misconceptions. You can extend your office hours by reaching students more often during the week so learning is continuous.

Workshop Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify the benefits of discussion forums
  • Create, manage and grade discussion forums and threads
  • Establish best practice expectations for student participation
  • Share ideas for using discussions in Blackboard courses

If this session date does not work out for your schedule, we would be happy to set up a one-on-one deskside consulting session, or even a customized departmental workshop.  Details on how to request these are found on http://technology.ku.edu/training
