Improving Research Impact for Scholars

Whether we like it or not, our research “impact” is being measured and our “value” as scholars is being assessed by administrators, tenure- and promotion-committees, granting agencies, etc., based on machine-collected data on our productivity.  Your data is already “out there,” but what it says about your work may or may not reflect well on your opus. Often this is a function of the variety of the types of scholarly dissemination and the venues in which we publish, which may not be “seen” by the data-collecting machines. We suggest that the best way to contend with this situation is to educate yourself on the still-evolving virtual world of innovative research metrics and take control of what you can control.

This workshop is intended primarily for graduate students, but faculty are also welcome to attend.
